Oh my god where is my accent going!

I am genuinely worried that it is becoming more southern by the day. Just now I told somebody I was going to the fuzz club and it came out "yah I am goiing to the fazz clab"

Argh!

I have nothing against southern accents but it just isnt me! I will now take Marina's advice and meditate chanting "I will not lose my accent". Hehe.

In other news today (how fitting) I was again squeling and clapping as I read back some shorthand today that i didnt write and *drumroll* understood it! Oh my god I can read shorthand. Competely! *faint* Wooooo!

I can also more or less write it (albeit far slower than anyone can talk). I have completed the two complulsory units (turns out you can get away without doing the first ten yet). I am also much more positive today after having a bit of a wobble late last night.

I dont know where it came from I was pretty fine all day and have been since I got here but I suddenly started missing loads of things. It wasnt really homesickness. I do miss home but not that much and i know i can go anytime on the bus. It was more the knowledge that my life has changed forever and things will never be like they were again. I think it was because I had just read my Journo handbook and it all looked really intimidating and I felt a bit trapped.

I am fine today though, in fact I have the beginnings of a really good friendship with Beth, a girl on my course who is really cool. We have been spending a fair bit of time together and are both going to the fuzz club today to do some moshing :)
We are both going to punk up as far as possible too so I will put up pics if it works well :) I am sure there will be stories to tell as we stumble back up this godforsaken hill!

You would not believe how steep all these hills are. I may have said this in my last post but they really are!I will have to take photographoc evidence! Yesterday I registred which involved about 45mins of walking, went down to the union to meet beth, went to meadowhall, got off 2 stops early by accident and wandered around until we found somewhere we recognised. We then walked home for an hour (as we took a wrong turn and got a bit lost again) to tea. Got in at 6 and then went african drumming at 7!

The drumming was pretty awesome. I got well into it and whacked my djembe until my finger swelled alarmingly. Harcore! The guy running it was mega enthusiastic and ran around the middle of the circle dancing crazily, doing massive busted jumps and conducting us like he was punching somebody. Pure aceness! The rhythms were so loud and catchy we were hummong them all the way back. I am defo going to use some of those rhythms in my songwriting. They are like nothing in pop music!

Well I think that is about my lot.

Laters :)
