This may be seen as a sad subject but I dont care as this is my space to be as sad as I want hehe!

Ok Three words: Celebrity X Factor

Ok two words and a letter

Or if I use the official title, 7 words.

Whatever.

I have been watching this show religiously for the past week and have loved it. This is rather strange as I can usually take or leave this kind of show but The X Factor somehow has me hooked. I guess it is just a bit better made than other reality talent shows - it has the big shiney stage, the flawless production and some very interesting personalities. Most of all I also marvel over Kate Thornton who you may know I think rocks ass! She is totally my idol as she is one bitching journalist! At the age of 19 she got a job on The Sunday Mirror as an editorial assistant and quickly rose to a senior features writer. By 1995 she had her own showbiz column on the Daily Mirror and subsequently left to become the youngest ever editor of Smash Hits (and first ever female editor) at just 22 : O . Damn she is good! From there she managed to get into TV doing bits for Dont Try This at Home, This Morning, Holiday, Dishes, TOTP, This morning and VH1. Crikey. From there she did the aftershow programme for Pop Idol on ITV2 and subsequently got her job presenting The X Factor.

People often think me odd for worshipping Kate but I dont think they realise just how ace she is! She is definantly my muse - to the extent that it is her that really inspired me to have a damn good bash at becoming a journalist. Those few meek souls that choose to read this blog, next time you watch a programme that she is presenting check her presenting skills. She is an ad lib queen and effortlessly glides through shows seemingly disregarding her autocues. On The X Factor for example she only has an autocue when announcing the acts and before the ad breaks, almost everything else is unscripted and made up on the spot. Power to you Kate!

She also clearly has the journalist attitude from what I was told by somebody at work. The girl from work went to a preliminary audition for the upcoming series of The X Factor with her friend. She was interviewed by Kate who she said was really nice by the way... I digress. Anyhoo, Kate sneaked outside to try and have a crafty fag but was rather predictably spotted by the 5000 strong crowd. The McDonald Drive Thru breed of man was rife in the crowd and said section began doing the builders whistle and shouting stuff like "SHOW US YER TITS!". Did Kate move away, did she graciously ignore the neanderthals and their testosterone soaked war cries? Nope. She turned around, gave the two fingered salute and shouted back "FUCK OFF!!". Nuff said :)

The one thing I do wonder though is just who the bloody hell is paying somebody to dress Kate in those hideous outfits? Occasionally there will be a stunning outfit but thet seem to be interspursted with some abominations that you would normally find on the further reduced rack. Whenever I have seen pictures of Kate in magazines when she is out and about of her own accord then she always looks really cool in funky street clothes so I am sure the blame does not rest with her. ITV, hire a decent wardrobe lady!

Ok. Obtuse rant over hehe.

In other news today...

I have found gaming heaven on the net :)

A little site known as Abandonia ( www.abandonia.com Visit! Do it now!) is home to the most exquisite and fantastical nest of wonderful gaming fluff! Abandonia is a site dedicated to abandonware (games that are no longer paid attention to by publishers and so whos copyright infringements are pretty much ignored). I have been like a kid at christmas today! I have found gem after shining little gem that has made me squeal and clap with excitement like a brownie on full sugar coke. I have found games that I have yearned after for years that I havent played since I was 6 or 7, games that I used to have the demos of back in 1995 and dreamed of owning the full whack and games that I had on my first full blown IBM in 1996 but lost as I upgraded computers.

I have found some truly legendary games absaloutely free such as Golden Axe, Paperboy, Battle Chess, Zak and the Mindbending Martians, Flight of The Amazon Queen, Prince of Persia, Doom, Dungeon Master, Transport Tycoon, Dizzy, Lemmings, Micro Machines, Speedball 2, Populous, Civilisation, TFX, Rampage, Zool.... the list goes on. Today I just went through the whole 800 games and downloaded the ones that I remembered and a few others that looked interesting (a game about dissecting a frog?!). I ended up downloading... 66 games. I know that is so bad but that will set me up for years! I used to play the same bits of the same few games over and over when I was a kid. Now faced with 66 games to work through that should last me years! Wooooooo!

I am telling you, even if you never had a computer in the early nineties, go on this website! You need never buy another game again! As they say, the old ones are the best! Just go to www.abandonia.com and download the programme DOSBOX and follow the directions on the site. Then you can play all those fantastic games that brought me absoute joy for years and years. I love you Abandonia!!!!

I may not post for a little while. I have games to play! Wooooooooooooooooooooo!
